Belgian policeman Patrick Van Brussel had discovered the truth about the people controlling the Haemers criminal gang, and he paid a terrible price for it.

Shortly after Dutroux's arrest in August 1996, a police informer said that two of Dutroux's kidnap victims, An and Eefje, had passed by a farm immediately after their kidnapping by Dutroux. The farm was subsequently examined by a forensic team and they found corroborating evidence. The forensic team stated that, in their opinion, the police informer was telling the truth about the farm.

There is something else. Dutroux met two Irish men, by chance, a few hours after the farm. They knew nothing about the police informer, but they said that Dutroux stank of horse manure and was wearing wellington boots.

Dutroux was not an agricultural worker. In the entire 400,000 page case file, the ONLY references linking Dutroux to a farm (dressed as a farm worker, smelling of manure etc.) are the ones made by the two Irishmen, who met Dutroux a few hours after the police informer claimed he had visited a farm.

The police informer also named a person, Pierre B., who was present on the farm that night, when Dutroux brought the girls. The informer provided detailed information about this person in great detail. The number plate of his vehicle, for example, and the address of his girl friend. All this checked out. The police also checked out Pierre B's criminal record. And it was spectacular. Pyromania, grievous bodily harm, attempted murder..

The police informer also said something else. Pierre B was connected to the Haemers gang.
Was Pierre B. ever questioned by the Dutroux investigators?

Not once. He was strictly left alone.
